Reflective hi-vis overall manufactured for workshop and automotive work
Johannesburg & Gauteng

Mechanic uniforms, made in Johannesburg.

Overalls, hi-vis and branded work shirts for workshops in Selby, City Deep, Booysens and across the city — cut and sewn in Doornfontein, minutes from your bay. When a new technician starts on Monday, you are not waiting on an import cycle.

Down The Road

A workshop's uniform problem is a re-order problem.

Most workshops do not have a uniform crisis on day one. They have it four months later, when two people have left, one overall has been written off by a gearbox, and nobody can get matching kit without ordering fifty.

  • We are in Doornfontein, not a depot somewhere

Our cutting tables, embroidery heads and sewing floor are in Silverwright Avenue, Doornfontein. For a workshop in Selby or City Deep that is a short drive, which means you can come and look at fabric weight before you commit, rather than approving a swatch photo on WhatsApp.

  • Your pattern and your logo file stay on our floor

Once we have made your first run, we hold the pattern and the embroidery file. A top-up of three overalls for new staff becomes a short production run rather than a fresh minimum order negotiation.

  • You are buying from the people who make it

We manufacture rather than import, so when you say the sleeve is catching on the hoist or the pocket is in the wrong place for a torque wrench, that feedback goes to the person who cuts the next one.

Johannesburg is where our floor is Joburg buyers phone or WhatsApp before they email, and they ask to see the workshop. We would rather you came and looked. Bring a garment that failed and we will tell you honestly whether it was the fabric, the stitch or the wash.
What Goes Wrong

Three ways workshop kit fails.

None of them are about the garment falling apart. They are about branding, roles and timing.

Degreaser destroys the branding before it destroys the garment

A printed logo on a workshop overall lifts within a season of solvent and industrial washing. Embroidered marks survive it, which is why every workshop that has been through one cheap order asks for embroidery on the second.

The front counter and the pit need different garments

Service advisors face customers and need a branded golfer that still looks presentable at 4pm. Technicians need something that can be ruined. Buying one garment for both means one of them is wrong.

The Booysens problem: a good price on a kit you cannot repeat

Workshops around Booysens and Selby often buy a cheap first batch from whoever quoted lowest, then discover the fabric has been discontinued when they need four more. Matching a discontinued shade is worse than paying slightly more the first time.

How It Works

From first message to kit on the floor.

Five steps. The one that decides everything is the second.

  • Tell us the roles, not just the headcount

Eight technicians, two service advisors and a washbay is three different garments, not eleven of the same thing. That split is the first thing we ask about.

  • Fabric and specification

Weight, sleeve length, reflective placement, and whether you need acid resistance. This is where a workshop uniform is actually decided, and it is worth a conversation rather than a tick box.

  • Sample and sign-off

We produce a sample with your embroidery on it. You put it on someone, they work a shift in it, and you tell us what to change before we run the batch.

  • Production

Cutting, sewing and embroidery all happen in our Doornfontein workshop. Confirm the current turnaround with us when you order — it moves with the load on the floor.

  • Delivery, and the pattern stays with us

We deliver to your workshop and keep your pattern and logo file on file, which is what makes the next three-set top-up quick rather than a fresh negotiation.

Bring us a garment that failed

The most useful thing you can hand us at a first meeting is the overall that did not last. We can usually tell from the wear pattern whether it was the fabric weight, the seam construction or the wash regime — and that decides what we make you instead.

Questions

What workshops actually ask us.

What do mechanic uniforms cost in Johannesburg?

As of September 2026 our indicative per-unit prices are R800 for an overall jumpsuit, R850 for an acid-resistant overall, R350 for a traffic or reflective jacket, R400 to R500 for a heavy work shirt and R250 to R300 for a branded bird-eye golfer. Prices move with quantity and specification, and bulk discounts start at 100 units.

Should a workshop buy one-piece overalls or a two-piece conti suit?

One-piece overalls give better coverage under a vehicle and are simpler to issue. Two-piece sets let a technician replace only the half that wears out, which is usually the trousers, and are more comfortable in a hot workshop. Most Johannesburg workshops we supply end up with one-piece for the pit and two-piece for general service work.

Will printed branding survive degreaser and industrial washing?

Often not. Printed logos on workshop garments tend to lift or crack once solvents and hot industrial washing get to them. Embroidered branding is stitched into the fabric so it survives both. We embroider workshop branding for this reason and recommend it over print for anything worn in the bay.

Do you supply branded shirts for the service counter as well as the workshop?

Yes, and they should be different garments. Service advisors face customers all day and need a branded bird-eye golfer that still presents well at closing time. Technicians need something built to be ruined. Buying one garment for both roles means one of the two is always wrong.

What is the minimum order for workshop uniforms?

There is no fixed public minimum and we quote per job. What matters economically is the embroidery setup, which is a once-off cost spread across the order, so a run of ten garments carries it far better than a run of two. Bulk discounts apply from 100 units, with better rates at 250 and 500.

Can you re-kit a new employee quickly?

That is the practical advantage of manufacturing in Doornfontein rather than importing. Once we hold your pattern and your embroidery file, a top-up of a few sets is a short production run instead of a fresh minimum order. Confirm current turnaround with us when you order, as it moves with workshop load.

Send us your headcount and your roles.

Tell Brian how many technicians, how many advisors and what your bay actually does to a garment. You will get a written quote back with the discount band you fall into.
