Down The Road

Why a Johannesburg depot should buy its workwear inside the city.

A depot’s workwear problem is rarely the first order. It is the fifth: the one where a new picker, a replacement driver and a supervisor all need kit that matches what everyone else is already wearing.

  • Doornfontein is a short drive from City Deep and Booysens

Our cutting tables, sewing floor and embroidery heads are on Silverwright Avenue, inside Johannesburg. For a warehouse in City Deep or a yard in Booysens, that means a delivery across town, not a parcel from another province.

  • We keep your pattern, shade and logo file

Once we have made your first run, the pattern, the fabric shade and the embroidery file for your company mark stay with us. A top-up for next month’s intake is a repeat of a garment we already know.

  • Made on our floor, so changes reach the next batch

Cutting, sewing, embroidery and dye-sublimation happen in our own workshop. If the reflective sits in the wrong place on a picker’s shirt, the people who fix it are the people who sewed it.

WhatsApp first, then come and see it Most fleet and warehouse managers in Johannesburg message us before they email anything, and then ask to see the workshop. Bring the jacket that did not survive last winter in the cold room, and we will show you what we would make instead.
What Goes Wrong

Three mistakes that leave logistics staff in the wrong kit.

Nobody orders the wrong garment on purpose. It happens when one specification gets issued to every role on the floor.

Cold chain and yard work are two different clothing problems

A freezer picker and a yard marshal are usually on the same headcount line and almost never need the same garment. Ordering one spec for the whole depot means somebody spends winter in the wrong jacket.

Drivers are the most visible staff you have

A driver in a faded, unbranded shirt is the version of your company your client actually sees. It is the cheapest brand asset in the business and usually the last one anybody budgets for.

The Monday intake that arrives before the kit does

If your City Deep or Booysens depot takes on extra hands for the year-end rush, those people start on a set date whether their workwear is ready or not. The fix is a phone call, not a tender: a supplier across town who already holds your pattern can run the same shirt again, and you can drive over to collect it.

The Kit

Workwear we make for warehouses, fleets and cold stores.

How It Works

From headcount to a kitted-out depot in five steps.

The first step is the one most orders skip, and it is the one that decides whether the cold-room team is warm in July.

  • Split your headcount by role

Cold-room pickers, yard and loading-bay staff, drivers, and office or dispatch staff need different garments. Send us the number in each group, not one total, and we build the quote around that split.

  • Agree colours, logo and reflective placement

We settle the shirt and trouser shades, where your company mark is embroidered, and where the reflective banding sits. If your client or site has a written specification, send it now, before anything is cut.

  • Wear a sample on a real shift

We make a sample with your branding. Put it on a picker in the cold room or a marshal in the yard for a full shift and tell us what to change before we run the batch.

  • Production in Doornfontein

Cutting, sewing and embroidery happen in our own workshop. Confirm the current turnaround when you order — it moves with the load on our floor, and we would rather tell you straight than promise a date.

  • Delivery to the depot, then top-ups on request

We deliver sorted by size and keep your pattern and logo file. When the next intake starts, WhatsApp us the sizes and we make the same garment again.

Budget the reflective and the cold-room kit separately

Reflective banding loses performance with repeated washing, usually before the garment wears out, and freezer jackets live a harder life than a dispatch golfer. Putting them on their own replacement line stops one tired jacket from triggering a whole-depot re-order.

Questions

Questions fleet and warehouse managers ask us.

What does logistics workwear cost in Johannesburg?

As of October 2026 our indicative per-unit prices are R350 for a traffic or reflective jacket, R650 to R750 for a freezer jacket, R300 for a branded bird-eye golfer and R850 for a staff jacket for drivers. Reflective polos, work shirts, vests and trousers are quoted to your specification. Prices may vary based on specific requirements, and bulk discounts start at 100 units.

Do you make freezer jackets for cold-chain warehouses?

Yes. Freezer jackets are on our published PPE list at R650 for one tone and R750 for two tone, as of October 2026. Tell us how long your pickers spend in the cold room each shift and what temperature it runs at. We do not claim a temperature rating we have not tested, so check the specification against your own risk assessment.

What reflective specification should warehouse and yard staff wear?

That is set by your site's own risk assessment and by the standard your client or insurer asks for, not by a supplier. We manufacture reflective polos, work shirts, vests and traffic jackets with sewn-on reflective banding, and we make to the placement and tape you specify. Send the specification in writing so the sample can be checked against it.

Can you deliver straight to our depot?

Yes. We are in Doornfontein, inside Johannesburg, so a depot in City Deep, Booysens or the CBD is a short drive from our floor. We pack orders sorted by size, so a shift supervisor can hand kit out without unpacking everything on the loading bay. Outside Gauteng we courier nationwide.

How do we kit out a new shift intake quickly?

After the first run we hold your pattern, colours and embroidery files in our Doornfontein workshop. A new intake then becomes a repeat of a garment we have already made, not a fresh development job. We do not publish a fixed turnaround because it moves with the load on our floor, so WhatsApp us the sizes and confirm the timing when you order.

Can we see the workwear before we order?

Yes. Our workshop is on Silverwright Avenue in Doornfontein. A fleet or warehouse manager can come and handle the fabric, check how the reflective banding is sewn on and look at the embroidery before committing. Most Johannesburg buyers WhatsApp first and then visit, which suits us: it settles questions about fabric weight faster than any spec sheet.
